Essay Contest for Tri-City 10th Graders
What is it like to be a teenager in 2016? In a world with cellphones, homework, feelings, and experiences, what’s important to you? Is high school what you expected?
A student’s life is real life. What do you want to tell others about yours?
Do these questions interest you?
If you are a high school sophomore and like to express yourself using words, the Fremont Area Writers (FAW) organization wants to know about your real or imagined life.
FAW invites high school 10th graders in the tri-city region to enter an essay contest with the topic: “My Life as a High School Student.” Entries can be fiction or nonfiction, no more than 500 words, and must be postmarked by October 25, 2016. There is no entry fee.
Prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place as well as Honorable Mention Certificates for the highest rated essays from each participating school will be awarded. Winning students and their parents will be invited to the awards ceremony at the January 28, 2017 FAW meeting.

FAW is a member of the California Writers Club, a statewide organization founded in 1909 to support and encourage writers and all genres of writing. The California Writers Club is one of the oldest professional writers’ groups in the nation and FAW is proud to be one of the more than twenty branches with over 1300 members throughout California.
