Tish Davidson has been publishing nonfiction for more than twenty-five years. As a freelance writer in New Jersey, she wrote everything from restaurant reviews to business stories for publications such as Delaware Valley Magazine, New Jersey Monthly, and the Trenton Times. At one point, her self-syndicated parenting column ran in 23 newspapers. After moving to Fremont, California, Tish concentrated her writing on medical and bioscience topics.
She has published nine nonfiction books for young adults with Franklin Watts, a division of Scholastic, Inc. and Mason Crest. Two of these, Prejudice, and Competition: Can You Play By the Rules and Still Stay in the Game? were selected as California Reader Notable Books, and she was recognized as the California Reader Author of the Month for September 2010. She has finished an adult mystery, Dogonne Dead, and is under contract to deliver an adult book on vaccines in early 2017.
In addition to writing books, Tish has contributed chapters to many biology and nutrition textbooks, written hundreds of encyclopedia articles on medical and bioscience topics, and done development editing for Corwin Press, and educational publisher, worked as a freelance editor for Appingo Press and writes for Cengage Learning, Grey House Publishing, and the Reed Group.
Creative nonfiction credits include “Where the Need is Greatest” in Cup of Comfort for Dog Lovers (Adams Media), “The Sacrifice of Sir Isaac Newton” in Cup of Comfort for Women in Love (Adams Media), “Visiting the Bone Man” in Live to Imagine (Scribes Valley Publishing) and “Miss Tish and the Okree Ladies” in Take Two—They’re Small (Outrider Press).
Tish has a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts from Dartmouth College, both in biology. She is a member of the American Association of Juournalists and Authors, Sisters in Crime, and International Thriller Writers. Her other interests include cooking, gardening, American history, and volunteering as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
