Tish Davidson has
been publishing nonfiction for more than twenty years. As a
freelance writer in New Jersey, she wrote everything from restaurant
reviews to business stories for publications such as Delaware
Valley Magazine, New Jersey Monthly, and the Trenton
Times. At one point, her self-syndicated parenting column was
running in 23 newspapers. After moving to Fremont, California, Tish
concentrated her writing on medical and bioscience topics. She has
published three nonfiction books for young adults with Franklin
Watts, a division of Scholastic, Inc. Two of these, Prejudice,
and Competition: Can You Play By the Rules and Still Stay
in the Game? were selected as California Reader Notable Books,
and she was recognized as the California Reader Author of the Month
for September 2010.
In addition to writing books, Tish has
contributed chapters to many biology and nutrition textbooks,
written dozens of encyclopedia articles on medical and bioscience
topics, and done development editing for Corwin Press, and
educational publisher. Currently she works as a freelance editor for
Appingo Press and writes for Cengage Learning and the Reed Group.
Creative nonfiction credits include
"Where the Need is Greatest" in Cup of Comfort for Dog Lovers
(Adams Media), "The Sacrifice of Sir Isaac Newton" in Cup of
Comfort for Women in Love (Adams Media), "Visiting the
Bone Man" in Live to Imagine (Scribes Valley Publishing) and
"Miss Tish and the Okree Ladies" in Take Two—They're Small
(Outrider Press). She currently is making very slow progress in her
first foray into fiction, a mystery in which the protagonist is a
pet sitter.
Tish has a Bachelor of Science degree
from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts from
Dartmouth College, both in biology. Her other interests include
cooking, gardening, American history, and volunteering as a puppy
raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
