Cherilyn Chin

Cherilyn has kept fish most of her life, from goldfish won at a school fair to a perky porcupine fish.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in the Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Biology from the University of California at Berkeley.  Cherilyn has worked at public aquariums, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco, as an Aquarist and Water Quality Technician. 

She has held a 3-day-old sea otter in the palm of her hand, cuddled with a week-old penguin chick and gotten a painting from a giant pacific octopus.  She also has a whale shark and manta ray named after her. Cherilyn enjoys writing children’s books about ocean animals, and has an award-winning blog, “Ocean of Hope.” (https://oceanofhope.net) Her life purpose is to bring to light the plight of our oceans and to reconnect people to nature.
